The battery on your car has a lifespan of roughly 4 years. As your battery gets older, it isn't able to retain the charge like it used to. In order to see if your battery is still in good shape, you can test your battery using a voltmeter.

Make sure your car is completely turned off, including the lights. Start with the red battery terminal, or positive terminal, first. Connect the voltmeter to the red terminal, then connect the black, or negative terminal to the voltmeter. Look at the measurement. If your battery is lower than 12.4 volts, it's time for a replacement.

You can avoid getting stuck on the side of the road with a dead battery when you take the time to replace a battery that is no longer strong enough for your needs. Visit our service center at Flynn BMW to have your dying battery replaced right away.
